Steve Hazan

With over three decades of experience in commercial banking, loan underwriting, and credit administration, Steve Hazan has established himself as a respected leader in the financial services industry. Steve began his career in 1988, spending nine years at SECU as Vice President of Credit Administration, where he specialized in business lending, loan underwriting, and loan servicing. Prior to SECU, he held the role of Senior Vice President at Bank of America, gaining extensive experience in branch banking, consumer and commercial lending, treasury management, and marketing.

A Maryland native, Steve earned his CPA designation in 1994 after graduating from The University of Michigan. He later obtained a Graduate Certificate in Management from The University of Maryland and in 2004, achieved Six Sigma Greenbelt Certification for his work on Commercial Credit Cards. In 2018, he graduated with honors from the Certified Credit Union Executive program at The University of Wisconsin School of Business.

As a frequent speaker and panelist at industry conferences, Steve has contributed articles to prominent publications, including American Banker, St. Louis Small Business Monthly, The Daily Record, The Baltimore Business Journal, Small Business Digest, and Sales & Marketing Management. Beyond his written contributions, he has trained and coached hundreds of bankers in cash management, commercial credit underwriting, loan servicing, and sales. He remains actively involved in education, teaching at America’s Credit Union’s Business Lending Certification School, where he shares his expertise with the next generation of financial professionals.
